Blue Whale - cacf.Image.jpg - This Blue Whale was sighted in the Bay of Fundy in August of 1996. The Blue is quite rare in the bay as the Blue was hunted to the brink of extinction, some populations may never recover. Stats: The Blue is one of the largest and gentlest animals ever to have lived on earth. Adults average between 23-28m; some are reported at 30m or longer. Blues average around 110 tons; some at 190 tons. Females are slightly larger than males. You can ID a blue by their enormous size, blue-gray mottled colour, tiny, stubby fin set far back, broad, flattened, U-shaped head, huge blowhole splash guard, extremely thick tail stock, 9m high blow and they may show flukes on diving.
