The Right whale is abundant locally in the Bay of Fundy from July to September, although they are very endangered. The animal varies in length between 10.5-15m and may weigh as much as 45 tonnes. Right whales completely lack a dorsal fin. The body is black with white patches. The snout bears irregular craggy skin patches(callosities). The upper jaw is narrow and arched while the lower jaw is huge and bowed. The blow rarely exceeds 3m and is divided into a bushy "V" shape.
